Griffins Coaching Staff

Doug Baird, Program Director

Coach Doug’s coaching experience started back in Toronto, Canada where he was born and taught to play ice hockey at an early age. Doug has coached ice hockey teams at all levels in CAHA/SCAHA from Mites to Midgets, and player skillsets from beginners to AAA. Doug has led many of his teams to tournament championships, SCAHA and CAHA finals.

Arriving in California in 1996, Doug took a position at Glacial Gardens Ice Arena in Lakewood teaching beginners how to skate in the Glacial Gardens skating school program. He began coaching travel hockey for the Jr. Ice Dog’s program at the Mite and Bantam level. After the ice arena changed ownership, he decided to start his own hockey club. The Paramount Hockey Club is at the original home of the Zamboni at Paramount Iceland Arena, Paramount, CA. Coach Doug enjoys introducing new hockey players to this fast paced sport. His main goal is to teach all kids (ages 16 and under) the skillset one needs to be good at the sport while maintaining a positive attitude, to continue working hard and commit to learning. This can carry through from the ice to day to day experiences.

Development, knowledge and team-first are the keys to Doug’s coaching style. We must develop, educate and motivate a team to be successful. It takes everyone working together!!
